SIGNAGE APPLICATION PRECAUTIONS
On receipt of signage you should take note of the 'precautions for use' and application instructions supplied with the product. If you do not receive these, mislay the instructions or want to view these before you order, read on:
Choosing and using a roof sign:
Your roof sign is a bit like your shop window - the cleaner and less cluttered it looks, the better the impact. We only supply signs with a gloss white finish and only use quality gloss vinyls which makes it easy to keep your sign looking in tip-top condition. Whilst we are happy to accomdate your choice of wording and line spacing, it is worth remembering that the most important message to get across is your school name and telephone number. Why waste space stating that you are a Driving school/ School of Motoring, when it is obvious!
Using a roof sign:
When using a roof sign you must ensure that the vehicle roof is clean, dry and free from grease, wax polish and ice/snow. We strongly recommend the use of a protective roof film to avoid scratching of the vehicle roof - these are available as an additional cost item so that you don't have to pay for one if you already have a roof film on your car.
Roof signs should be placed centrally on the roof ensuring that magnets have maximum contact with the surface. DO NOT exceed the legal speed limit. In adverse weather conditions such as strong winds, remove sign from roof.
POSITIONING: Rest the sign on a long edge placing your hands beneath the sign on the opposite edge and lower gently into position. TO REMOVE: Place hands underneath a long edge and tilt to raise the magnets. DO NOT raise or lower sign from a short edge.
NOTE: If supplied with bases packed loose, affix with the nylon nuts and bolts supplied. Hand tighten only. Periodically check the sign and magnet assembly for wear and tear and make sure that the nylon nuts attaching the base are secure. Spares are available if needed.
CLEANING: Periodically clean your sign using warm soapy water. This should be sufficient to keep your sign looking in tiptop condition. Do not use abrasives or pressure washers on your sign - this could result in the vinyl lettering being damaged or lost.
Protective Roof Film:
BEFORE USE: Ensure surface to which film is to be applied is clean and free of dust, grit and ice before applying.
TO POSITION: 1. Part fill a washing up bowl or similar with hot water and add some washing up liquid. 2. Agitate the water to create a bubble bath effect. 3. Scoop off the bubbles and spread over the vehicle roof where the sheet is to be placed. 4. Remove the backing paper from the protective sheet and lay the sheet on the film of bubbles. 5. Once in the desired position you need a ruler or similar as a spatula. Working from the centre out use the edge of the ruler to squeeze the bubbles from underneath the sheet towards the edges, continue until all the bubbles have been removed. LEAVE FOR 24 HOURS TO DRY
Magnetic Decals:
BEFORE USE: If your decal has arrived in a roll or appears creased, lay in a warm place on a flat surface for a few hours or overnight. A useful tip is to place on the warm side of a fridge or freezer.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE: Ensure that both the vehicle panel and the underside of the decal is clean, dry and free of dust, grit and ice before applying. The whole decal must be placed to ensure that the magnetic sheet has maximum contact with a ferrous surface. Do not attempt to place decal over a panel crease or hollow. DO NOT exceed the legal speed limit. In adverse weather conditions such as strong winds, remove decals from vehicle.
POSITIONING & REMOVAL: DO NOT DRAG DECALS OVER THE VEHICLE PANEL. If any grit is trapped, you could scratch the paintwork. IMPORTANT NOTE: You must regularly (every 2-3 days) remove the panels and clean/wax the bodywork behind them. This is particularly important in hot weather when you are recommended to remove the panels at the end of every day.
Adhesive panels/lettering:
BEFORE USE: Ensure surface to which decal is to be applied is clean and free of dust, grit and ice before applying. Larger decals and pre-spaced vinyl lettering are supplied on a backing paper on the reverse of the vinyl and application tape on the face of the vinyl. DO NOT REMOVE APPLICATION TAPE UNTIL VINYL HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THE CAR BODY OR SIGN PANEL.
TO POSITION: Wet the body panel with a fine spray of slightly soapy water (2 drops washing up liquid per half litre is sufficient) or wisk up a foam and coat the body panel with the foam. Remove the backing paper and position the vinyl. When happy with position, squeeze out the wate/foam with a PLASTIC ruler or spatula over the application tape, working from the centre of the panel outwards. When all water has been pressed out, carefully peel off the application tape. DO NOT TRAP WATER BENEATH THE VINYL.
Self-Cling Decals:
These are designed for use on the inside of vehicle windows and can be re-used or repositioned as often as you need.
BEFORE USE: Ensure glass is clean and dry. Remove backing paper and, without stretching, apply sign to glass. The material will cling to the glass. With a soft cloth, press the material onto the glass to assist adhesion.
NEODYMIUM MAGNETS:
WARNING: Neo-Lite signs are fitted with Neodymium rare earth magnets which generate powerful magnetic fields: Pacemakers and magnetically stored data (credit cards, computer disks etc) may be adversely affected by strong magnets: Keep them well apart. These magnets may be attracted to steel over wide distances. Neodymium magnets are also used in our MAGBOARD product.
